This is a two-day station.

*     You will need to divide the labor to accomplish the task in class.

*     If you do not finish the task by the end of the second day, your group will need to finish the task outside of class!

Task: design a poster providing information about some of the leading figures from the industrialization period.

*  You will need pictures and information about each of the following

·      Andrew  Carnegie

·      Alexander Graham Bell

·      John D. Rockefeller

·      Thomas Edison

·      John Pierpont (J.P.) Morgan

·      Henry Ford

·      Cornelius Vanderbilt

·      Wilbur & Orville Wright

Procedure:

Day 1

  1. Study the notes about each person.

  2. Use the notes to write a well-constructed paragraph about each person.

  3. Type your paragraphs into a Word document.

  4. Save and print the document that contains your paragraphs.

Day 2

  1. Select a picture of each person from the photo gallery.

  2. Copy each picture you choose and paste it into a Word document.

  3. Save and print the documents with your "photos."

  4. Use Word Art to create a "banner" for your poster.

  5. Save and print your banner.

  6. Use scissors to cut out each paragraph and your banner.

  7. Arrange the various elements of your poster on your poster paper.

  8. Use a glue stick to fasten the various elements of your poster in place.

  9. Make sure your names are on your poster and give it to your teacher!

Local Connection Extra Credit!  Do some research on your own and add one or both of the following to your poster. This will need to be done outside of class between Days 1 and 2.
